Abstract
The government as of late embraced the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the rules thereunder. The new law protects disabled individuals in India from numerous sorts of discrimination, guarantees equitable work possibilities, and increases their societal association. The Disabilities Act of 2016 has replaced the past enactment, the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act of 1995, and is in conformity to the standards cherished within the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act of 2016 (the ‘new Act’) is a welcome administrative change as it fulfills India’s obligations as per the 2007 United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and has taken the Indian Parliament more than a decade to pass. This research paper highlights the rights of employees who are persons with disabilities and the different reliefs that are allowed to them under this Act. It also dives into real world information through case studies.
